2013 Cornell Game Jam

Google is sponsoring a Game Jam this weekend at Cornell University. The Game Jam is open to anyone affiliated with Cornell. The focus will be on web game development, but any time of game is welcome. The Game Jam will take place over a short 24 hours, so you have to be creative to come up with a good game idea.

There will be prizes, food, and Google schwag. Come join us for our first Game Jam and have fun! But be sure to get some sleep the day before.

Date/Time: Sep. 14th from 12am - 11:59pm

Venue: Upson 361 (CSUG Lab)

Rules:

  • Contestants must be affiliated with Cornell
  • Teams are limited to 2-5 people
  • The game must run in a browser.
  • The submission consists of a URL with a playable game.
  • No gameplay can be implemented before the contest start.

While no gameplay maybe implemented before the contest start, contestants are allowed to set-up any necessary infrastucture to publish their game to the web ahead of time. This could be a personal web server, or a Facebook app. The key requirement is that any application deployed at that URL must be a non-game demo before the start of the Game Jam.

There are no restrictions on the game engine, provided that the game engine does not contain gameplay unique to the submission. There are several game engines designed specifically for web-based games. These include (but are not restricted to):

Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the Game Jam.
