Date/Time: December 10th from 3 - 6 pm
Venue: ACCEL Labs in Carpenter Hall
Description:
The GDIAC Showcase returns for a special Fall semester event. Typically held in the spring, the annual Cornell computer game showcase has been moved to the fall this school year because of some recent course rescheduling.
Our showcase will display games developed by Cornell students in the courses CIS 3000 (Introduction to Computer Game Design) and CIS 4002 (Advanced Projects in Computer Game Design), as well as other independent student projects. The games this year cover a wide variety of platforms. The students will have games for the PC, games for mobile devices and smartphones, and even social games to play with your friends on Facebook.
The GDIAC showcase is open to the general public. It will be held in Carpenter Hall, in the ACCEL computing labs, so that everyone can play and experience these student projects. Come and meet the game designers and engineers of tomorrow.
Posted: Nov. 28, 2011Richard Garfield and Skaff Elias will be coming to Cornell and presenting a talk on the mechanics of Collectible Card Games (CCGs) and how they relate to modern game design (particularly modern online games).
The talk is open to students currently or previously enrolled in CIS 3000 or CIS 4002. After the talk, a smaller group of interested students will be invited for a small one-on-one session to talk with these veteran designers.
Date/Time: September 29th from 12:20 - 1:25 pmThere has been a major change in the course offering times for the 2011/2012 school year. This year, CIS 3000 will not be offered in the Spring. Instead, both CIS 3000 and CIS 4002 will be offered in the Fall.
This change was made after pre-enroll. Therefore, CIS 3000 is completely open and looking for students. The class will serve students on a first-come, first-served basis on the first day of class.
