Develop a computer map tool which grants the player and the game master the flexibility they would need to realize “Tabletop” gaming over the internet

Abstract

Our goal is to create software that supports fog-of-war in traditional RPG settings such that pen-and-paper gamers will have individualized views of their map location transmitted to them. We will be focusing on the presentation of graphical data leaving the players to maintain their own game state. Given our small team we hope to create a map annotation program which will then be loaded up and served to the players. The system will use a server-client model to distribute maps to the active players. The system will be capable of supporting D20 systems, although we seek to make it as generic (system independent) as possible, in order to provide the custom rulesets Tabletop gamers are used to.
